CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Social Security System (SSS) on Friday rolled out its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in Bulacan  province to remind employers to fulfill their obligations under the Social Security Law.

SSS Vice President for Luzon Central 2 Division Gloria Corazon Andrada, together with other SSS officials visited nine establishments in Malolos City, Bulacan that have failed to remit their employees’ premium contributions.

Andrada said Malolos City is one of the 108 locations nationwide where the SSS is simultaneously conducting the RACE operations to help employers comply with their obligations under the provisions of Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.

“Ginanap ito RACE operations at isa nga dito sa Malolos City. Ginagawa natin para matulungan natin ang mga employers na mag-comply sa kanilang mga obligasyon, lalo na kung ito ay naging delinquent na sa kanilang pagbabayad ng kanilang contributions para sa kanilang mga employees (The RACE operations are being conducted and Malolos City is of the locations. We are doing this to help the employers to comply with their obligations, especially those who became delinquent in paying the contributions for their employees),” she said in a local television interview.

She said that SSS offers remedies for employers’ unsettled obligations through the Contribution Penalty Condonation Program.

Through the program, Andrada said employers can settle their unpaid premiums without paying any penalty.

“Meron po tayong inaalok na ganun programa. Walang documentation required at mag-aapply lamang sila at para hindi na sila mapatawan pa ng penalties (We are offering such program. No documentation required and they will just simply apply so that they would not be slapped with penalties),” she added.

Likewise, the SSS official reiterated that the RACE campaign is for the benefit of the employees.

“This initiative is to protect employees as it aims to ensure that their premium contributions, of which part of it are deducted from their salaries, are timely remitted to the SSS,” she said.

The remittances would allow the employees to avail of benefits such as sickness, maternity, retirement, death and funeral, disability and unemployment.

Other benefits that could be availed by the SSS members are loan privileges such as salary, calamity, educational, and pension loans. (PNA)
