BUTUAN CITY – The National Labor Relations Commission in the Caraga Region (NLRC-13) has resolved 140 of 337 labor-related cases it handled for the first quarter of 2023.

Robert Aying, NLRC-13 labor arbitrator associate, told reporters here Friday that the majority of the cases filed were related to disputes between the management and workers.

“As a quasi-judicial agency, we are mandated to promote and maintain industrial peace based on social justice,” Aying said.

He pointed out that carrying out the mandate of the agency, which is under the Department of Labor and Employment, means the speedy resolution of labor and management disputes.

Aying said the resolution of the 140 cases also resulted in the awarding of monetary benefits of nearly PHP19.6 million to the affected laborers and workers.

The agency, he added, is still working with the involved parties to resolve the remaining 197 cases filed during the period. (PNA)
