CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Over 32,000 vacancies await jobseekers in Central Luzon in the job fairs on May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) regional office here said on Friday.

In line with the celebration of the 121st Labor Day, five job fairs will be conducted simultaneously at SM mall branches in Pampanga; City of San Jose Del Monte and Marilao in Bulacan; Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; and Olongapo province.

Another two job fairs will be held at the People's Center in Balanga City, Bataan on May 3 and Bulacan Capitol gym in Malolos City on May 4.

DOLE Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio urged jobseekers to pre-register through philjobnet.gov.ph to avoid getting caught in the influx of people going to the fairs.

Panlilio said interested applicants may also visit its official Facebook page.

As of Friday, there are some 8,000 jobs available from 48 participating companies in Pampanga and some 7,600 from 70 participating employers in Zambales.

In Bulacan, there are some 8,200 jobs available from 97 companies set to participate in three job fairs.

In Bataan, some 7,500 vacancies are up for grabs from 30 participating employers while in Nueva Ecija, there are some 1,300 job offerings from 20 participating companies.

Aside from job fairs, other activities lined up as part of the Labor Day celebration include the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo sa mga Manggagawa” at Clark Freeport in Pampanga and at Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles.

Panlilio said there will also be an awarding of livelihood packages and distribution of other DOLE assistance on the same dates and venues.

She encouraged jobseekers to take part in the events and be ready for possible hiring on the spot.

“Ihanda lang po nila ang kanilang mga documents for possibly being hired on the spot (Be ready with their documents for possibly being hired on the spot),” Panlilio said in a radio interview. (PNA)
