5.1-magnitude quake hits Isabela anew

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela – A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit the coastal town of Maconacon in Isabela and other areas anew at 7:36 p.m. on Sunday, followed by six aftershocks, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The 31-kilometer deep quake, tectonic in origin, was the second major quake in the municipality after the 5.8-magnitude temblor on Thursday (May 4).

The latest quake was monitored 29 kilometers northeast of Maconacon.

No damage was recorded but six 1.8 to 2.9-magnitude aftershocks have been recorded afterward.

The quake was also felt in Enrile, Cagayan (Intensity V); Tuguegarao City (Intensity IV); Gonzaga in Cagayan (Intensity III); City of Ilagan, Tabuk City and Maddela in Quirino (Intensity II) and Casiguran and Baler in Aurora, Laoag City, Pasuquin and Batac in Ilocos Norte and Santiago City (Intensity I).
