NEW YORK – A jury here found former US President Donald Trump sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll in 1996 inside a luxury department store dressing room, CNN reported Tuesday.

The former US leader was also ordered to pay Carroll US$5 million for battery and defamation.

According to the TV channel, while the jury concluded that Trump had touched her without her consent and defamed her, the jury dismissed the rape accusation of the writer.

The jury awarded her a total of about $5 million, including $2 million for sexual abuse and $3 million for defamation.

The former president was not around, just like any defendant in a civil case, when the decision was handed down. (TASS)
