MANILA - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives have apprehended the claimant of a shipment containing shabu worth PHP12.24 million in Mandaluyong City.

The PDEA identified the arrested consignee as Kyle Puna Sanchez whose real identity is Joel Mariano Reyes, 42, who was nabbed by the PDEA Central Luzon along Sultan Street, Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City on Thursday afternoon.

Operating teams disclosed that the shipment containing imported shabu originated from San Jose, USA and arrived at the Port of Clark last May 9.

The PDEA operatives seized from Mariano some 1,808 grams of shabu placed inside a box that also contained, among others, toys.

"The interception of the subject illegal drugs in Port of Clark emanated from information received by PDEA ICFAS (International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service) from foreign counterparts,” PDEA said in a statement on Friday.

The operation was made through the combined efforts of PDEA Clark Inter Agency Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Custom Port of Clark, PDEA-National Capital Region, and the local police.

A criminal case will be filed against the apprehended claimant for violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
