MANILA – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) slammed reports of fare overcharging allegedly done by certain public transport operators, particularly motorcycle taxis.
In a statement Tuesday, LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz III said such violation within the public transportation system would not be tolerated.
“The fare matrix was crafted to ensure that the fares charged by all public transport operators from commuters regardless of vehicle type are fair and equitable,” Guadiz, who also heads the Motorcycle Taxi – Technical Working Group, said.
The MC-TWG is the authorized body that has full jurisdiction on MC taxis.
Guadiz will call on the technical working group to investigate the allegations.
The statement came amid reports of fare overcharging on commuters.
“We reiterate that this practice of overcharging has no place in our public transportation system. We will not allow it,” Guadiz added. (PNA)
