Cops who nabbed top NPA leader in Caraga feted

BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) recognized Monday five personnel for exemplary performance, two of whom were responsible for the arrest of a top New People’s Army (NPA) leader in Surigao del Norte.

PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra II and Chariss Jo Dela Cruz, branch manager of the Government Service Insurance System-Butuan City, led the awarding ceremony.
 
“May this recognition boost the morale and welfare of our personnel and inspire others to do more in the performance of daily duties and responsibilities,” Labra said.

Capt. Rizar Eublera and Staff Sgt. Fejie Dagairang of the Surigao del Norte police provincial office both received their Medalya ng Kagalingan for the arrest of Ronilo Mondenido, the commanding officer of NPA Guerrilla Front 16, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee.

Mondenido, who had an arrest warrant for frustrated murder, was arrested on April 23 in Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte.
 
Two other personnel also received Medalya ng Kagitingan -- Lt. Col. Elvie Dedicatoria of the 2nd Surigao del Sur provincial mobile force company and Staff Sgt. Jethro Ed Dableo of the Claver municipal police station in Surigao del Norte.

They are credited for the arrest of Eduardo Velasco Agot, the fifth most wanted person in the region.

Agot, who is also wanted for rape, was arrested on April 20 in Barangay Rosario, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
 
Non-uniformed personnel Honey Taglucop, meanwhile, was awarded the Medalya ng Papuri for her 24 years of service, loyalty, and devotion to duty. (PNA)
