BACOLOD CITY – Anti-drug teams have arrested three suspects and seized a total of PHP1.5 million in shabu in three separate buy-busts Wednesday in this capital city and in the northern city of San Carlos in Negros Occidental province, the police reported on Thursday.

At around 7:50 p.m., Ma. Theresa Mendoza, 45, was arrested by operatives of Police Station 5 of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Purok Cadena de Amor, Barangay 29 here.

The suspect, considered a street-level individual, transacted with undercover police, who purchased a small sachet of the prohibited substance.

Mendoza also yielded two big and five small sachets of shabu, weighing about 15 grams, worth PHP100,000, along with drug paraphernalia, including an improvised tooter and a disposable lighter.

Earlier at past 1 p.m., personnel of the BCPO-City Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended Jeo Tongoy, 21, in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.

Tongoy, a high-value individual, sold a sachet of the prohibited substance worth PHP1,000 to a poseur-buyer.

Operatives also recovered from his possession 16 sachets of shabu weighing 106 grams valued at PHP720,800.

“Tactical interrogation is ongoing to locate the source of illegal drugs, links and accomplices of the suspects for follow-up operation,” the BCPO said in the report.

In San Carlos City, police operatives arrested Jocelyn Yaon, 36, in a buy-bust at Campo 7, Barangay 5.

During the operation at past 5:30 p.m., a poseur-buyer bought PHP800 worth of shabu from the suspect.

Yaon was also found to possess 12 sachets of shabu, weighing 100 grams, with a standard drug price of PHP680,000.

The suspects now face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
