BUTUAN CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard in Surigao del Norte (PCG-SDN) maintained the suspension of certain vessels and watercraft for sea travel as strong winds continue to affect the province.

In an advisory on Monday, Jerick Maglangit, the PCG-SDN station commander, renewed the suspension of travels of boats with 20 gross tonnages plying the route of Bucas Grande Island to Claver, Surigao del Norte.

Likewise, deferral of travel was also issued on vessels with 150 gross tonnages plying the route Surigao City to Dinagat Islands, Siargao Island, and Bucas Grande Island.

“Strong winds associated with Typhoon Betty continue to affect the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao,” Maglangit said in the advisory.

The weather condition, he added, has brought rough sea conditions that pose danger to the traveling vessels in the area.

Ship operators allowed to travel are reminded to take precautionary measures and continue to monitor the prevailing weather condition. (PNA)
