MANILA – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Monday said it would maximize the administration's digitalization efforts to cover more services, including the scholarship.

CHED chairperson Prospero de Vera III made this remark a week after the CHED and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for e-governance to integrate information and communication technologies (ICT) in the higher education sector.

The memorandum also aims to promote “relevant and quality” higher education through the integration of ICT in the education sector.

"Ang balak ng CHED ay makipagtulungan sa DICT para iyong mga kailangang dokumento ng mga estudyante at iyong mga serbisyo na ibinibigay natin sa mga estudyante ay puwede nang kunin online (The CHED intends to work with DICT to provide the students with the documents or services they need online)," De Vera said.

Under the scholarship digitalization plan, the CHED eyes to secure a certain "landing page" wherein students can easily access application information.

"Nandoon lahat ng scholarship ng CHED para mabasa nila iyong impormasyon, ano iyong requirements, ano iyong mga deadline tapos unti-unti gagawin natin iyong application ay online (Everything about scholarship in CHED shall be there, so they could read the information, what are the requirements, deadlines, and then we shall gradually transition the application online)," he said.

Besides scholarship services, the CHED said it will also digitalize the process of certification and securing necessary records of new graduates for employment.

"Kaya’t doon sa mga handa ng mga pamantasan na sumama sa platform gagawa tayo ng signing ceremony din with DICT para sila ay sumama na sa platform at puwede nang aplayan iyong mga transcript at diploma doon (So for those schools that are ready to join, we shall conduct a signing ceremony with the DICT, so they can join the platform and [students] may apply for their transcript and diploma there)," De Vera said.

The CHED took part in the official launching of the administration’s electronic governance Philippines (eGov PH) Super App last June 2.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier said through the one-stop shop Super App, various government services shall be more accessible to the public.

The said eGov PH super app is the first e-governance app in the country. (PNA)
