MANILA – A Catholic prelate has warned the public against a group asking for donations for their supposed missionary work.

Ozamiz Archbishop Martin Jumoad said the group “Filipino Katolico Missionary” is not connected with the Catholic Church.

“Do not be deceived because they do not belong to the Roman Catholic Church,” he said in an article posted on the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news website Tuesday.

Jumoad noted that while other groups also have the right to ask for donations, it should not confuse the faithful.

“While we respect their right to ask for donations, this, however, caused confusion among our faithful,” he said.

The archdiocese added that the group was roaming around soliciting donations from Catholic parishioners.

In August 2022, the Archdiocese of Palo in Leyte province also issued a warning against the same group. (PNA)
