Hans Weiss reappointed Azkals coach

MANILA – Hans Weiss is returning as the head coach of the Azkals, the Philippine national football team.

Weiss previously coached the Azkals from 2011-2014, winning 21 matches at the senior level and drawing 11 more out of 44.

He most recently coached the Laos national team program and has also had spells with Romanian top-flight club Otelul Galati and the Mongolian national team.

In his first match back in charge, Weiss will face a tough test against Nepal at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on June 15. The match will be followed by a friendly against Chinese Taipei on June 19.

In line with the upcoming matches, Weiss called up a 26-man squad that includes Neil Etheridge, Patrick Deyto, Julian Schwarzer, Amani Aguinaldo, Jesper Nyholm, Carli De Murga, Martin Steuble, Daisuke Sato, Santi Rublico, Jesse Curran, Marco Casambre, Dylan De Bruycker, Jared Peña, Oskari Kekkonen, Mike and Manny Ott, Sandro Reyes, Pika Minegishi, Kevin Ingreso, Patrick Reichelt, OJ Porteria, Gio Pabualan, Andres Aldeguer, Kenshiro Daniels, Jarvey Gayoso, and Bienve Marañon.

The Azkals are currently ranked 125th in the FIFA World Rankings. (PNA)
