CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The local government here has encouraged business owners to renew registration using online platforms to decongest long lines at the city hall.
In an interview on Friday, Asst. City Treasurer Leonil Mistula said of the 22,633 who renewed their business permits from Jan. 3 to Feb. 28, only 1,108 businesses preferred processing online.
Mistula said the city government wants to encourage business owners to conduct their transactions online for their convenience in compliance with the national government’s Ease of Doing Business campaign.
"Regarding the off-site [registration and business permit renewal] at one of the city’s malls, based on our [Nov. 8] meeting, we’re not prepared to do this. But we do have a plan [in 2025] we can set up a one-stop business shop whole year round," Matuan added.
City hall officials also plan to ramp up its education campaign to encourage local traders to transact business listing online.
The city government’s business permit licensing division registered 31,652 business permits for renewal and registration as of Nov. 9 this year or slightly higher than the 29,696 recorded during the same period last year. (PNA)
