MANILA – Additional immigration officers will be deployed to the frontlines as the holiday nears.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a news release Saturday that 38 new personnel are currently undergoing training at the Philippine Immigration Academy in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Composed of immigration officers and assistants, administrative aides and fingerprint examiners, they will be dispatched after their graduation on Dec. 11, he said.
Tansingco said there are other trainees who will serve as acting immigration officers for augmentation teams.
Apart from lectures on immigration laws and policies, the new hires undergo soft skills training to ensure better services to the public.
“After the issues we have encountered, we saw the need to up soft skills training wherein our frontliners are trained in communication, customer service, and conflict resolution,” Tansingco said. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
