MANILA – Police officers in Parañaque City seized illegal drugs worth PHP1.02 million and arrested two suspects in a sting operation on Sunday.
In a statement on Monday, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the suspects Marvin Bontia, 28, and Eduard Alferero, 20, were arrested in Barangay San Dionisio at 11:40 a.m.
Police seized from the suspects 150 grams of suspected shabu.
The arrested suspects will be facing violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9 (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while the confiscated illegal drugs were brought to the Parañaque City Police headquarters for documentation and proper disposition.
Meanwhile, police officers in Southern Metro Manila seized PHP3.3 million worth of illegal drugs in week-long operations.
Citing the latest data, Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete said this is equivalent to 478.64 grams of shabu, 12.17 grams of marijuana and 76 ecstasy tablets that were confiscated from 85 suspects in 62 operations from Aug. 5 to 11.
The suspects will be facing charges for violation of RA 9165.
The SPD covers the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa as well as the municipality of Pateros. (PNA)
