MANILA – Operatives of the Southern Police District (SPD) arrested two high-value individuals (HVIs) and seized PHP3.06 million worth of shabu in a sting operation in Taguig City at dawn on Thursday.

In a report, the National Capital Region Police Office said authorities launched buy-bust at 1:15 a.m., resulting in the arrest of Ariane Tejada, 37; and Jhoanna Caparanga, 19, on Xyris Street, Barangay Rizal, Taguig City.

Seized from the suspects are 450 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP3.06 million.

The two suspects are now detained at Taguig City police station and will be charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

They were previously arrested for violations of Section 11 and Section 5 under Article II of RA 9165 or illegal possession and selling of dangerous drugs.

Meanwhile, the elements of Northern Police District (NPD) arrested a police officer assigned at the Manila Police District (MPD) for his alleged involvement in a kidnap-for-ransom syndicate during operations in Malabon last Aug. 4.

The NPD, also under NCRPO, identified the arrested police officer as Cpl. Noel Agular, 39.

According to the initial reports, Agular was arrested during operations in Barangay Muzon, Malabon following a kidnapping complaint.

The NPD said the complainant/victims and witnesses positively identified the suspect as one of their kidnappers following the verification made with the Land Transportation Office of their get-away van with plate number NEL 5298. (PNA)
