MANILA – Some road sections in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga in the Cordillera region are either impassable or have limited access to traffic, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Tuesday.
In an advisory, the DPWH-Cordillera said Kennon Road and the Baguio-Bontoc Road K0322+990-K0323+030, Pilando, Gambang, Bakun are not passable as of 8:20 a.m.
Kennon Road is not passable due to mudslides and soil collapse. Motorists are advised to traverse Marcos Highway and the Baguio-Bauang Road as alternative routes.
Meanwhile, the Baguio-Bontoc Road is temporarily closed due to road cuts.
Motorists are advised to take the Cong. Andres Acop Cosalan Road via the Benguet Nueva Vizcaya Road, the Abatan-Mankayan-Cervantes Road via Bessang Pass, the Natubleng Nabalicong Cabuguiasan Pacso Road, and the Labey Lacamen Ambuklao Road.
Vehicles coming from the Mountain Province may take the Tadian Cervantes Road via Bessang Pass as an alternative route.
“We advise motorists to exercise extreme caution in their travels since clearing works are still ongoing, especially along recently punched thru open or one-lane road sections,” the DPWH-Cordillera said.
On the other hand, three roads in the regions are passable only to light vehicles – the Itogon-Dalupirip Road, the Manuel S. Agyao Boulevard K0512+444 "'Eleb Bridge" Nambaran, Tabuk City, and Tabuk-Banawe via the Tanudan-Barlig Road.
The roads have limited access due to ongoing road rehabilitation works, road slip, and damaged bridge deck.
Motorists may take the Guisset-Binga Road, the Rizal National Road (Romualdez-Santor-Calaocan-San Pascual, Nambaran-Isabela Road and Calaccad-Pangol-Gombowoy Provincial Road) as alternative routes.
The DPWH, meanwhile, noted that all national roads and bridges in the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Baguio City are passable. (PNA)
