MANILA – Agents of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) have seized some PHP1.36 million worth of shabu from an alleged high-value target (HVT) during a sting operation in Cavite province.
In a statement Wednesday, PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said the suspect, alias 'Tomboy', 31, was nabbed during a sting operation in Barangay H-2, Dasmariñas City at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Seized from the suspect were 200 grams of shabu and other non-drug pieces of evidence.
Matta said the suspect was brought to the Dasmariñas City Police Station for documentation.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The pieces of drug evidence were turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 4A for laboratory examination.
QCPD touts anti-drug gains
Meanwhile, operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confiscated illegal drugs valued at more than PHP66.5 million from January to Aug. 25.
QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said these illegal drugs were seized in 1,352 police operations carried out by the different police stations and units, resulting in the seizure of 9,554.49 grams of shabu and 12,846.00 grams of marijuana.
“The substantial number of arrests and the significant amount of illegal drugs seized are a testament to our unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace in our community. This success reflects the diligence and determination of our officers in their relentless fight against illegal drugs,” Maranan said in a separate statement. (PNA)
