MANILA – Graduating students beginning school year 2023-2024 from two universities under the City of Manila are entitled to receive a PHP2,000 graduation gift from the local government unit.
This after Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday approved City Council Ordinance 9068, granting the cash gift to each college student who will graduate from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) and Universidad de Manila (UdM).
“Mayor Lacuna signed Ordinance Number 9068 this morning. Councilor Pamela Fugoso-Pascual and majority floor leader Councilor Ernesto C. Isip Jr. are the principal authors,” the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said in a statement.
“The PHP2,000 ‘Taas-Noo Manileño Graduation Gift’ will be given to UdM and PLM graduates starting the school year 2023-2024,” it added.
The City Council presided by vice-mayor Yul Servo Nieto passed the ordinance during the regular session of the 12th City Council on Aug. 27.
The PLM and UdM are the city-funded and operated higher education institutions. (PNA)
