MANILA – The Philippine Army (PA) on Friday announced the appointment of a new head of its unit tasked to look after all its munitions.

In a statement, PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said Col. William Victorino Upano was appointed as the new Army Chief Ordnance and Chemical Services (ACOCS) in simple rites at the PA headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Thursday.

PA chief of staff Maj. Gen. Potenciano Camba presided over the turnover rites.

Dema-ala said Upano replaced Col. Jeffrey Grapa, who led the unit for two years.

Upano concurrently heads the Marksmanship Training Center of the PA's Training and Doctrine Command.

"(The unit) plays a vital role in the accomplishment of the Army's thrusts, particularly on formulating and revising the procedures on the supply, maintenance and disposal of armaments and munitions," Dema-ala said. (PNA)
