MANILA – Paris Olympics double gold medalist Carlos Yulo received a new set of incentives on Saturday.
DigiPlus Interactive Group and Arena Plus awarded Yulo PHP5 million during the "Astig Ka, Carlos!" press conference at Gateway Mall 2 in Cubao, Quezon.
Yulo, who ruled the men’s gymnastics’ floor exercise and vault events in the Summer Games, also received a plaque of appreciation while his contract with the company as brand ambassador was renewed.
"Carlos' victories at the Paris Olympics are not just personal triumphs. They are beacons of hope and possibility for every aspiring Filipino athlete dreaming of making their mark on the world stage," DigiPlus chair Eusebio Tanco said in his welcome remarks. "DigiPlus is immersely proud to support champions like Carlos, whose relentless pursuit of excellence embodies the spirit of the Filipino people."
Yulo thanked DigiPlus and ArenaPlus for their support.
"I'm deeply grateful to DigiPlus and ArenaPlus for celebrating this win with me and recognizing my perseverance. Success does not come overnight. It is made possible with the support of those who believe in you," Yulo said.
He said he’s “honored to have incredible partners by my side as we chase dreams for the Philippines.”
He advised aspiring athletes to work hard and stay determined to succeed.
"I faced a lot of challenges to reach where I am right now. I'm glad I was able to overcome these challenges and I thank God for making my dream of winning medals in the Olympics come true," Yulo, who will go to Paris to cheer on the six Filipino Paralympians, said.
Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion, who accompanied Yulo, said training camps abroad are being planned for the 24-year-old. (PNA)
