SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has designated three ex-officio members of the Antique provincial board following the suspension of eight board members last month.

Designated as new ex-officio members were the vice presidents of the Sangguniang Kabataan, Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) Antique chapter, and Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Antique chapter, namely Mart Giric Galido, Ricky Lavega, and Julius Pierre Pacificador, respectively.

“This designation order is being issued effective during the period of the temporary vacancy for the said positions in view of the suspension of the incumbent ex-officio member of the Sanggunian, pursuant to the report dated 8 August 2024 from DILG Regional Office VI,” DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., said in three separate orders dated Sept. 2 and received by the officials on Wednesday.

Abalos said the designation is pursuant to Administrative Order No. 15 issued by the President authorizing the DILG Secretary or the Officer-in-Charge to fill temporary vacancies in certain local elective offices to prevent hiatus in and paralysis of local government operations and consistent with Section 507 of the Local Government Code.

They are expected to join the regular session on Sept.9.

Now serving their six-month suspension effective Aug. 5 pending the hearing of their administrative cases for oppression, grave misconduct, grave abuse of authority, and gross neglect of duty were SK president Kenneth Dave Gasalao, PCL president Plaridel Sanchez, and LnB president Julius Cezar Tajanlangit.

Also suspended were regular board members Egidio Elio, Victor Condez, Rony Molina, Alfie Jay Niquia, and Mayella Mae Plameras–Ladislao.

Last month, the provincial board failed to hold regular sessions due to a lack of quorum. (PNA)
