SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan – A super health center that will cater to the medical needs of residents from 34 villages in this town and is eyed to decongest hospitals in the province was inaugurated Thursday.

"We have our Rural Health Units (RHU) 1, 2, and 3 and now (we have) the super health center," Mayor Marlyn Agbayani said in an interview during the inauguration of the town’s additional medical facility.

Super health center is a medium-type of polyclinic that provides primary care services like dental, laboratory, X-ray, birthing facility, and other medical services.

Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, the proponent of the facility’s construction and chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, in an interview, said 26 super health centers are targeted for Pangasinan until this year.

To date, the existing super health centers in the province are located in the cities of Dagupan and Alaminos, and the towns of Asingan, Balungao, Basista, Binalaonan, Manaoag, Mapandan, Tayug, and Umingan.

"There are already more than 600 super health centers around the country, 307 of which were constructed in 2022 and 322 in the following year," he said. (PNA)
