DAVAO CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in Davao Region (PhilHealth-11) has paid more than PHP5.8 billion for 665,358 claims as of August this year, an official said Tuesday.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum here, PhilHealth-11 Vice President Harvey Carcedo said their average turnaround time for claims processing as of July was 16.7 days, about 43 days faster than the mandated 60-day period.
Carcedo highlighted the Financial Management and Reporting Enhancement Program (FinMaREP) as a key initiative to reconcile records with hospitals and ensure accurate financial management.
The FinMaREP focuses on enhancing financial processes, developing the capability of human resources, strengthening the internal control system, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
“In our role as stewards of public funds, it is crucial to engage directly with hospitals to keep accurate records,” he said.
Carcedo also discussed PhilHealth's expanded benefit packages, including increased hemodialysis coverage from 90 to 156 sessions per year for chronic kidney disease stage 5 patients, along with significant increases in support for conditions like stroke and pneumonia.
For the first half of 2024, PhilHealth paid PHP74.95 billion in claims nationwide, marking a 16 percent increase from the previous year.
“This year, we implemented a 30 percent increase in over 9,000 case rate packages, with more enhancements to come,” Carcedo added. (PNA)
