CEBU CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Friday released financial assistance worth over PHP35.7 million to 6,000 program beneficiaries during the “Handog ng Pangulo Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair”.
Lilia Estillore, regional director of DOLE-7, said that the amount were distributed in four different programs -- Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD); DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP); Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES); and Government Internship Program (GIP).
The agency distributed the TUPAD payout transaction codes to over 5,000 workers to help them claim their wages amounting to PHP28.7 million in the identified venues in Cebu province, Mandaue City, Dumaguete City, Siquijor province, and Jagna town in Bohol province.
There were 259 workers in the informal sector who also benefited from more than PHP5.5 million in livelihood assistance.
The provinces that calendared said livelihood assistance releases were Cebu and Bohol.
A total of 220 student-beneficiaries in Cebu province claimed their transaction codes for their stipend collectively amounting to more than PHP1 million.
Under the GIP, 29 government interns of Malabuyoc town, Cebu will get their transaction codes for their stipend worth more than PHP298,000. (PNA)
