MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Monday reported the completion of road enhancement projects worth PHP280.31 million in Pampanga province.
In a report, DPWH-3 (Central Luzon) director Roseller Tolentino said the works involved various road enhancements in Magalang town and major highways of San Fernando City.
The DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office completed PHP187.21 million road improvements along the 2.48-kilometer segment of Manila North Road (MNR) in San Fernando City.
The project covered the asphalt overlay, reblocking at intermittent sections, and installation of road safety devices along the busy MNR – San Fernando City section in Barangays Telabastagan, Saguin, and Dela Paz.
Also in San Fernando City, the DPWH Pampanga 2nd DEO completed the road reblocking and asphalt overlay at the damaged sections of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) in Barangay Dolores and Barangay San Juan.
The PHP93.1-million project covered the improvement of the 1.93-km.section of JASA, including the installation of regulatory signs and solar-powered traffic signal yellow blinker lights at critical sections like RR Crossing Bridge, Palawe Bridge, Lazatin Flyover, and MNR/JASA Flyover.
Meanwhile, the DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office reported the improved rural mobility brought about by the recently-completed steel bridge in Magalang.
The 60-meter steel bridge, which replaced a hanging bridge, was installed to provide safer and more reliable access between Barangay Turu and Barangay Balitucan.
With the completion of the steel bridge, locals can now access the bridge using light to moderate vehicles. (PNA)
