LEGAZPI CITY – The Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco) announced on Wednesday that a 12-hour brownout will be experienced in three districts of Albay province as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) conducts preventive and corrective maintenance from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
In an interview on Wednesday, Aleco public information officer Anj Galero said the Sept. 19 brownout would be experienced in the 2nd District covering the whole of Legazpi City, Daraga, Manito, and parts of Camalig that are connected to the Washington and Bitano substations.
On Sept. 20, the affected areas will be those under the 3rd District -- Ligao City, Guinobatan, Jovellar, Libon, Oas, Pio Duran and Polangui -- which are connected to the Polangui and Ligao City substations; and those under the 1st District -- Tabaco City, Bacacay, Malilipot, Malinao, Santo Domingo and Tiwi, which are connected to the Matagbac and Malinao substations.
"These are all NGCP scheduled power interruptions, but in connection to that, Aleco will be doing its parallel activities as well. We will replace poles and enhance the line at Barangay 15, Legazpi City and Barangay Binitayan, Daraga. Replacement of insulators at Bitano Substation Feeder. Replacement of poles and massive line clearing in Manito and Legazpi City," Galero said.
She said for Friday, Aleco will conduct the conversion of DX lines and energization at San Vicente, Oas Albay, and hotspot correction at the Ligao substation.
"We ask the public to understand, particularly our members and consumers, of the power interruptions. The scheduled NGCP power interruption will conduct more technical activities along with the parallel activities of Aleco to provide a better supply of electricity and services for the Albayanos," she said.
