BUTUAN CITY – At least 67 people’s associations in Agusan del Norte province will receive PHP300,000 in livelihood funding each through the Department of Social Welfare and Development's Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) later this month.

“Over 1,000 residents who are members of these associations will directly benefit from the SLP funding grant, the release of which was facilitated through our office,” Agusan del Norte 2nd District Representative Dale Corvera said in a message on Wednesday.

Corvera said more than PHP20.1 million in grants will be released to the beneficiaries in a payout activity on Sept. 24, adding that most of the recipients are into retail and food processing, such as banana chips.

“This is the second batch of SLP recipients in the province. In April this year, 23 associations were also given PHP300,000 each under the SLP program,” Corvera said.

He added that the congressional office is also currently processing the release of additional funding for 23 other associations.

Of the recipient associations to receive the SLP payout next week, 24 will be coming from the towns of Nasipit (9), Carmen (4), and Buenavista (11).

The other 15 groups are from Jabonga (5), Santiago (6), and Kitcharao (4), while the 28 associations are from Cabadbaran City (15), Remedios T. Romualdez (5), and Tubay (5).

Corvera said that around PHP33.9 million was facilitated through his office for the SLP program for the second district of Agusan del Norte this year. (PNA)
