IMUS CITY, Cavite -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Calabarzon Regional Office has awarded its “Bagwis-Gold Seal” to four Savemore stores in Cavite for their unwavering support to the trade and industry department’s consumer protection program.

DTI Calabarzon Regional Director Marilou Quinco-Toledo led the awarding to the Savemore branches in the Citymall (Imus City), Salawag and Paliparan (Dasmariñas City) and Portal Mall in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA).

Toledo said the agency’s “Bagwis Program” recognizes establishments that uphold the rights of consumers while practicing responsible business where consumers get the best value for their money.

The program also encourages the setting up of Consumer Welfare Desks (CWDs) or an equivalent customer relations office inside the mall that provides information to consumers and serves as a mechanism for the speedy resolution of consumer complaints.

This DTI program is open to all retail establishments engaged in supermarket, department store & specialty stores, appliance centers, hardware stores and DTI Accredited Service and Repair shops.

The “Bagwis Seal” has three award levels such as the Bronze for establishments that have complied with Fair Trade Laws and the establishment of Consumer Welfare Desk (CWDs).
The Silver award is conferred for those establishments that achieved the “Bronze” requirements added with Social Responsibility while the Gold is for establishments that have achieved the Silver requirements plus some criteria aligned with ISO 9001 certification.
The criteria/parameters for the selection process for the awards may be inquired through any local DTI office nearest the establishments. (PNA)
