BARMM still low risk among Mindanao regions: exec

MANILA – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) remains at low risk category for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among the regions in Mindanao.

In a televised public briefing Tuesday, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim said the region has a total of 10,410 Covid-19 infections with 666 active cases.

Ebrahim noted the region’s number of recoveries reached 9,350 or 89.8 percent of overall case tally while the death toll is 394 or 3.8 percent.

"So, now, there are 68 new cases, 39 new recoveries and one death. There are 68 number of positive tests with 383 number of individuals tested today and 18 percent positive rate," he said.

As for the breakdown of active cases per province, Maguindanao logged 235 infections; Lanao del Sur, 234; Basilan, 5; Sulu, 7; Cotabato City, 185; and Tawi-Tawi has none.

About 381 of the active cases are asymptomatic, 206 are mild, 69 are moderate, nine are severe, and one is critical.

"Wala pa pong na-trace na Delta variant dito po sa amin (No delta variant case was traced here so far)," Ebrahim said.

He added that the region's vaccination rate is 50 to 60 percent.

Apart from the massive vaccination, the BARMM allotted PHP50 million for the purchase of oxygen supply in case of surge of cases in the region. (PNA)
