CEBU CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE-7) said on Friday the regional wage board has submitted its wage order to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) for approval.
DOLE Undersecretary Victor del Rosario, who is concurrent regional director, said Wage Order No. ROVII-D.W.03 and Wage Order No. ROVII23 approved on Tuesday by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-7) is mandated by law to be submitted to the NWPC for review.
Wage Order No. ROVII-D.W.03 provides for the minimum wage rate increase for domestic workers in the region while Wage Order No. ROVII23 is for the wage increase of agricultural and non-agricultural workers in the region.
“Kung okay na ang tanan, mohatag dayon sila sa Wage Board (RTWPB-7) og go signal aron ato dayong i-pamantala sa newspaper ang maong mga wage orders (If everything is okay, they will immediately give the Wage Board [RTWPB-7] a go signal so that we can immediately publish the wage orders in the newspaper),” del Rosario, who sits as the RTWPB-7 chair, said in a statement.
The NWPC is given by law 10 days to review the RTWPB-7’s decision.
Central Visayas workers will get a PHP31 increase in their daily wage following the RTWPB-7 approval of the twin wage orders, the Wage Board officer-in-charge secretary, Evita Balane, said.
In the regional wage order, Metro Cebu workers in agricultural and non-agricultural sectors called class A will now receive PHP435 from the PHP404 based on the 2018 wage order.
Workers in the Class B that previously earned PHP366 per day will now get PHP397, while those who are in the Class C category who earned PHP356 daily will now get PHP387 once the new wage order takes effect.
The RTWPB-7 also approved an increase of PHP500 for domestic workers in the region. Upon implementation, domestic workers in chartered cities and first-class municipalities can earn PHP5,500 per month while those working elsewhere can earn PHP5,000.
“Mahimo silang effective 15 ka adlaw human sa ilang publication (They will take effect 15 days after their publication),” del Rosario said. (PNA)
