MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) ordered that anybody already in line by 3 p.m. must be accommodated during the last day of registration on Saturday.

Registration for regular and youth voters for the December 5 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

There are no guidelines yet on a possible extension for those who won't meet the deadline.

“As long as you are in line to register by 3 p.m., your application will still be accommodated,” read the Commission advisory released hours before the nationwide signup ends. “Make sure you are present when your name is called.”

The registrant's name will be called thrice and only those who are physically present will be processed.

The BSKE polls will be a manual process.

“Our Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections are manual. We will not use a machine and we will not use transmission. The counting of the votes will  be done at our voting center,” Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said at the “Laging Handa” public briefing on Friday.

The proclamation of the winners will be done by the Barangay Board of Canvassers.

As of July 21, a total of 2,334,406 have signed up since registration resumed on July 4.

Based on the Nationwide Consolidated Daily Report the number of new registrants are 1,456,699, aged 15-17; 752,819 aged 18-30; and 124,888 aged 31 and above. (PNA)
