6 ex-NPA rebels yield in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Six former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in Central Luzon returned to the fold of the law and yielded their firearms on Wednesday.

In his report on Thursday, Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen, Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3) head, said the efforts of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict have contributed to the continuous surrender of more active and former members of the communist terrorist groups as well as withdrawal of support of their supporters.

In Angeles City, “Ka Bunso” surrendered to the authorities, bringing his cal.38 revolver and two live ammunition.

In Bataan, "Ka Nene", a former political guide of Komiteng Larangang Guerrilla (KLG) West operating in the towns of Hermosa, Dinalupihan, Bagac, and Morong, also surrendered to authorities and yielded a shotgun with three live ammunition and a 105mm projectile.

In Nueva Ecija, “Ka Manny”, a former member of CPP-NPA, turned himself in and surrendered a homemade cal.38-caliber without ammunition.

Military and police personnel also facilitated the withdrawal of support from the CPP-NPA of "Ka Karen", an active member of the militant group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay)-Mabalacat Chapter.

Meanwhile, personnel of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Tarlac Police Provincial Office facilitated the surrender of "Ka Will", a former KLG member operating in Tarlac and Zambales, who turned in a cal. 45 pistol, five ammunition for the same caliber, two rifle grenades, and explosives.

With him was "Ka Aida", who yielded a homemade shotgun and three rounds of ammunition. (PNA)
