APO Hiking Society’s Danny Javier dies at 75

MANILA – Singer-songwriter Daniel “Danny” Javier of the popular trio, APO Hiking Society has passed away. He was 75.

This was confirmed by Javier's daughter Justine Javier Long on Monday, who said he died from "complications due to his prolonged illnesses."

“In life, as in his death, our Pop never stopped fighting for what he loved, what he believed in and what he was passionate about,” she wrote on Facebook.

The Javier family is asking for privacy as they arrange the wake.

Danny was known as one of the members of the group along with Boboy Garrovillo and Jim Paredes.

He coined the term Original Pilipino Music (OPM), which refers to the music of the Philippines and Philippine pop songs.

Among the popular songs of the group are "Batang-bata Ka Pa", "Awit ng Barkada" and "When I Met You". (PNA)
