Police ops net over P1-M shabu in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – Twelve drug suspects were arrested while over PHP1 million worth of shabu were seized in various anti-drug operations in the Caraga Region from Nov. 23-26, the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-13) office said Monday.

In a statement, PDEA-13 said 126 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP1,019,000 were recovered from the operations during the period.

On Nov. 26, the agency said a buy-bust was launched in Barangay Ladgaron, Claver, Surigao del Norte.

“The raiding team arrested Jelson Alfon and confiscated 51 grams of shabu from his possession with an estimated market value of PHP510,000,” the PDEA-13 report said.

Alfon, who is now under the custody of PDEA 13, will be facing charges for violation of the Republic Act (R.A.) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Also on Saturday, three anti-drug operations were conducted by the different police stations in the region in coordination with PDEA-13.

In its report, the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) said five drug suspects were nabbed during operations in Villa Kananga, Butuan City; Cabadbaran City; and Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

Arrested were Flordilito Maglinis Jr., 32; Gernie Asilo, 30; Jade Ong, 43; Jerome Polintan, 28; and Ian Malaubang, 34.

Authorities seized during the operations 15 grams of shabu worth PHP101,000.

On Nov. 23, the PDEA-13 said six suspects were also collared, and a drug den was dismantled during the service of a search warrant in Purok 9, Doongan.

Nabbed were Romeo Peralta, Bethsaida Peralta, and Jestershane Peralta, alleged drug den maintainers; and Benjie Mosa, Jonathan Revalo and Gerald Omana.

Authorities confiscated from the suspects 60 grams of shabu with a street value of PHP408,000.

PDEA-13 said all six suspects are now facing charges for violations of R.A. 9165. (PNA)
