MANILA – A total of 33 persons were arrested during anti-illegal drugs and criminality operations in Quezon City in the past 24 hours.

In a statement on Thursday, Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief, said 15 drug suspects were nabbed while PHP500,620 worth of shabu was seized in a series of buy-bust operations on Wednesday.

The suspects will be charged with Violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, 18 wanted persons including two most wanted persons (MWPs) were also arrested.

Torre said Jeremy Legaspi, the 6th most wanted by the Batasan Police Station (PS 6) for four counts of rape and lascivious conduct, was arrested on Wednesday in Barangay Batasan Hills.

The Pasong Putik Police Station (PS 16) also arrested Mary Jane Ato, its 8th most wanted, for Violation of Batas Pambansa 22 or the Anti-Bouncing Check Law at Palmera Homes, Phase 4 in Barangay Sta. Monica.

The respective courts of origin of the warrants will be notified of the arrests of the accused.

Ang pagkakahuli sa mga wanted persons na ito ay patunay lamang na ang ating kapulisan dito sa Quezon City ay agresibo upang matugis at mapanagot ang mga kriminal na pilit nagtatago mula sa ating batas (The arrest of these wanted persons is only proof the QCPD police force is aggressive in pursuing and holding accountable the criminals who try to hide from our law),” said Torre.
