LETTERS FROM DAVAO

Sara’s wish

December 26, 2021, 12:16 am

WHILE we, for one brief moment, wish to forget politics we cannot escape the heat and the beat from the simmering December. The May 22  regular elections is just a nap away and not even the coldness of December wind or the wrath of Odette can temper the mood of the time.

All surveys from traditional pollsters and those done by broadcast and print media have almost identical results. Bongbong Marcos and Inday Sara Duterte are leading the pack in the race to Malacañang. This, despite some snide remarks from President Duterte. The Unity Team of BBM and Sara has shown strength and tenacity.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara has a message for all and we are quoting her verbatim:

“This Christmas, may you and your families be blessed with abundance, good health, peace of mind, and love.

The year has been very difficult, but it should not dampen our spirit as a people called to share and celebrate the love of Jesus with others.

As we spend Christmas with our families, let it become a special moment to remember the sick, hungry, in need, the victims of abuses, children on the streets, the homeless, and those who are away from their homes and families — our soldiers, OFWs, our health front-liners.

Let us not forget the victims and survivors of Typhoon Odette who need our help and prayers as they face loss and despair. Together we can be their source of strength, joy, and hope.

And for our country, let Christmas also be a celebration of peace, healing, and unity.

Maligayang Pasko po. At naway ang 2022 ay mas maging matatag, masaya, mapayapa, at magdulot ng tunay na ginhawa sa ating lahat

Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas.”

We join her in her hopes and prayers for unity, healing, and peace.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and a BETTER NEW YEAR!
