First "Global Pest Awareness Day"

A dengue mosquito mascot tries to catch up with children at the Luneta Grandstand, Rizal Park in Manila during the launching of the first-ever "Global Pest Awareness Day" on Tuesday (June 6, 2017). The event, simultaneously held worldwide, aims to create awareness about the importance of pest management particularly against mosquito-borne diseases in achieving a healthy home, workplace and environment. The World Health Organization estimates that 50 to 100 million dengue infection occur yearly aside from the emergence of Zika virus brought about by the same mosquito specie.
