SAP Go visits soldier killed in clash in NPA

ILOILO CITY – After visiting the wake of slain overseas Filipino worker, Angelo Claveria, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go on Sunday went to see the family of PFC Vicente A. Marcon, in Cabatuan, this city.

Marcon was one of the soldiers who died in an encounter against the New People’s Army (NPA) members on in Kabankalan City, Negros Oriental on May 12.

SAP Go condoled with the bereaved family and handed over the financial assistance from the Office of the President. He likewise thanked the family for the heroism of Marcon and assured the family that the national government will assist them. Go also committed to refer the request of one of PFC Marcon’s siblings to enlist in the AFP.

The encounter in Brgy. Tan-awan left two Army soldiers dead and eight others injured. It also prompted the evacuation of 236 individuals as government forces are still pursuing the fleeing communists.

Go was joined by Iloilo City Mayor Jose S. Espinosa III, Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office and Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino. (PCOO)
