Bulacan drug suspect killed, 6 others nabbed in drug ops

CAMP GEN ALEJO S SANTOS, Bulacan -- A notorious drug pusher was killed while six others were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Bulacan province on Wednesday and Thursday.

Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna, Bulacan Police Director, identified the suspect who was killed as Arvin Bautista, 40, a resident of Emerson Subdivision, Barangay Saog, Marilao, who was on the drug watch list of the Pandi municipal police. His cohort managed to elude arrest.

Bersaluna said based on the report of the Pandi police, the suspect drew his firearm and fired at the poseur buyer when his cohort realized that they were dealing with a police officer.

"A firefight ensued, which resulted in the death of the suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bunsuran 2nd, Pandi, Bulacan at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect was a known supplier of illegal drugs in the area and adjacent towns in Bulacan," he told the media.

Recovered from the crime scene were one heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu and one caliber .38 revolver.

Bersaluna added that six other drug suspects, identified as Raymond Magbitang Igaya, who is on the drug watch list of the San Rafael municipal police; Reynaldo Gomez, on the drug watch list of the Guiguinto municipal police; Christorey Gicoli; Nazareno de Guzman Jr.; Alexis Herrera; and Manny Villavicencio, were arrested in buy-bust operations conducted by the operatives of the City of San Jose del Monte, Bustos, Guiguinto, Obando, and San Rafael.

He said that a total of 17 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and assorted drug paraphernalia were seized from the suspects. (PNA)
