Hunt on for gunman in Cotabato City village dad’s murder

COTABATO CITY -- Policemen are hunting down the suspect in the murder of a village councilman inside a coffee shop along Quezon Ave. here on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Supt. Michael Lebanan, city police director, identified the victim as Abie Sumdad, 50, village councilor of Barangay Poblacion 4, Cotabato City.

Police investigation bared that Sumbad was taking his coffee break at the roadside cafeteria at about 2 p.m. when the gunman arrived on a motorbike, shot the victim at close range, and sped off.

Responding police rushed the village official to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Lebanan said investigators are looking into several persons of interest as the possible perpetrator of the crime. (PNA)
