ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – Law enforcement authorities are searching for two people of interest in the killing of a university staff member whose body was discovered along Ala River on Wednesday.

Police identified the slain victim as Jonji Imperio, 42, single, and an employee of the Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU).

Lt. Colonel Julius Malcontento, Isulan municipal police chief, said the victim had neck and head stab wounds and was found floating along the Alah River in the borders of Barangay Biwang, Bagumbayan, and Barangay Dansuli, Isulan, both in Sultan Kudarat.

“A kitchen knife was found near the crime scene,” Malcontento said in an interview on Thursday.

Local farmers found the victim’s body at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, he added.

The SKSU management condemned the attack against Imperio, a staff of the university's graduate school department.

“The entire SKSU community joins together in heartfelt prayers for the repose of his soul, for the pursuit of justice, and for comfort and solace to be granted to his bereaved family,” the SKSU statement said. (PNA)
