KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Police authorities in North Cotabato have reported a high number of accomplishments in law enforcement on February 11-15, a police official said Saturday.

“The North Cotabato police had been working so hard to eliminate all forms of criminality in the province,” Senior Supt. Maximo Layugan, North Cotabato police director, said in a statement.

Police Regional Office 12 (Soccsksargen) director, Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, lauded the North Cotabato police for the accomplishment and urged its personnel to double the efforts to ensure civilian protection from harm.

Layugan said on February 11-15, the provincial police office recorded a total of 27 persons arrested for various crimes in North Cotabato’s 16 towns and one city. Eight of those put behind bars were among the Top 10 most wanted persons in the province.

On the campaign against illegal drugs, he said four persons were arrested in four separate law enforcement operations that also led to the recovery of seven sachets of suspected shabu.

Five persons were arrested during anti-illegal gambling operations. One person, Jomarie Satohito of Barangay Kibia, Matalam, was arrested for illegal possession of firearms. An unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun was seized from him.

In President Roxas town, police confiscated 700 board feet of illegally cut lumber.

Meanwhile, a total of 324 vehicles, mostly motorcycles, were impounded during the implementation of “Oplan Lambat Bitag Sasakyan” across the province.

Most of the violations were due to lack or absence of vehicle registration documents, drivers’ licenses and non-use of crash helmets.
Layugan lauded his men for the job well done.

“Double your efforts, the battle is half-way won. We need to work harder, especially with the coming elections,” he told police officers across the province. (PNA)
