KAWIT, Cavite, Aug. 8 - The Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo (MEA), the most famous historical landmark of Kawit, Cavite has embarked on a creative approach to provide a more interesting feature and extensive information on the Museum collections and relics through its “Hablamos: Talking Artifacts program.”

MEA curator Haidee Paulette M. Bedruz told PNA here on Monday that “Hablamos” (Spanish term for “let us talk”) is an educational program which focuses on the study of artifacts from the museum collection pieces which can “talk” like a personified character in a comic strip.

Bedruz explained that the program highlights a museum collection every month and will display it as a pocket exhibit within the museum’s exhibition space to provide “something that second time or returning visitors can look forward to.”

Done like the comic strip, each artifact will include a narrative inside a “dialogue box” discussing its physical attributes, provenance, historical significance and current use for the museum visitor to have a better appreciation of the museum piece.

The artifact’s featured narrative will be posted on all social media accounts of the museum and also comes in printed form like a flyer or leaflet for on-site museum visitors and guests.

Since the program’s inception, the Aguinaldo museum has featured artifacts like the Aguirre’s Sword (in January), Mela the Mesa Altar (February), Ah Tay Bed (March), Nestor and Noel, the Neveras (April), Bella the Butaca (May), Sally the Salacot (June) and Benito Bentwood (July).

NHCP volunteer artists Jay Bautista, Czarina Dacanay, Alex Aguinaldo, Kimny Verdera, Ayesha Sayseng, Christian Bernard Melendez and Jonel Rabusa crafted the illustrations.

Bedruz said that by August 15, the museum will feature the artifact christened as the Venetian Mirror, with illustrations from Juvelyn Nierves.

The Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo is located along Tirona Highway and is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PNA)
