TAGBILARAN CITY -- Bohol Governor  Edgar Chatto met with the local school board and other relevant agencies on Wednesday in preparation for the province's hosting of the 2018 Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) national meet in April.

Chatto earlier expressed confidence the leading sports facilities in the province would be ready for the meet.

At least a thousand student-athletes and officials will be coming to Bohol next year to compete for medals in different events.

Before the Prisaa, the province will also host the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet in February next year.

The CVIRAA meet is the qualifying event for the Palarong Pambansa, which will be hosted by Baguio City and Benguet Province also next year.

Back in July, Governor Chatto already alerted key provincial government agencies including the engineering department to spruce up key sporting venues.

At least 16 venues for various competitions were identified by the organizers, said Fr. Vic Uy of Holy Name University and a ranking official of the National Prisaa. (Dave Albarado/PNA)
