PH booters eliminated in SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Philippines was eliminated in the men's and women's football competition of the 29th Southeast Asian Games late Tuesday.

The men's team bowed to defending champion Thailand, 0-2, for its third consecutive defeat in Group B at the MP Selayang Stadium.

The Filipino booters wil be facing winless Timor Leste in their final game at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the University of Malaysia Arena.

Meanwhile, the women's squad also succumbed to Myanmar, 0-6, in their match played at the Shah Alam Stadium.

The Malditas, who are sporting a 1-2 win-loss record, will be up against the reigning champion Thais in their last game on Thursday at 4 p.m., also at the UM Arena.

The Philippine men's team lost all four games in the 2015 edition held in Singapore while the women's team were also winless in two matches during the 2013 Games in Myanmar.

The members of the men's team are Christian Lapas, Daniel Bernan Gadia, Dimitri Lionel Limbo, Dylan Allan Lucienne De Bruycker, Jaime Vicenzo Cheng, Jordan Blair Jarvis, Javier Agustine Gayoso, Jeremiah Raphael Rocha, Julian Mariano Clarino, Junell Mark Bautista, Kou Ichi Belgica, Nathaneal Ace Villanueva, Nimrod Balatbat, Ray Joseph Joyel, Joshua Jake Grommen, Reymart Cubon, Roberto Corsame Jr., Richard Talaroc Jr., Jeremiah Borlongan and Yoshiharu Koizumi.

The women's squad is composed of Mea Dematao Bernal, Anicka Chabeli Arrieta Cataneda, Sara Isobel Arrieta Castaneda, Charisa Marie Lemoran, Alisha Clare Mendoza Del Campo, Kyrhen Angela Bretana Dimaandal, Alesa Nazareno Dolino, Patrice Mae San Pedro, Kayla Jan Aragones, Hali Moriah Candido Long, Eva Silva Madarang, Joanna Almeda, Regine Metillo, Irish Oliveros Navaja, Inna Kristianne Beza, Kathleen Camille Muldong Rodriguez, Faith Sean Ruetas, Mary Christine Duran, Jovelle Cordero Sudaria and Patricia Tomanon.
