‘Road to Stardom' weigh-in set September 8

DAVAO CITY – The official weigh-in of the “Road to Stardom” boxing promotion by the Sanman Promotions will be held at 11:30 a.m. of September 8 at the Municipal Hall of Polomolok, South Cotabato.

This was announced by boxing promoter Jim Claude “JC” Mananquil, chief executive officer of Sanman Promotions.

The official weigh-in will be handled by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Davao Field Officer-in-Charge Arlene Olondrez.

GAB Chair Abraham Kahlil “Baham” Mitra, who is also the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) president, will be the supervisor of the championship fight of Ben Mananquil (14W-1L-2D, 3 KOs) of Sanman and Rhey Waminal (11W-1L-OD, 6 KOs) of ALA Stable.

Former GAB Commissioner Fritz Gaston is also coming to supervise the championship fight between defending International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth super flyweight king Jade Bornea (8W-0L-0D, 5KOs) of North Cotabato and challenger Jakkrawut Majoogoen (19W-1L-0D, 11KOs) of Thailand.

Meanwhile, ex-world champion Randy Petalcorin (26W-2L-1D, 19KOs) takes on former PBF champion Jetly Purisima (21W-23L-4D, 7KOs) for eight rounds in the 110-pound division.

The other bouts in the undercard are: Eden Sonsona vs. Jaime Barcelona; Jayson Mama vs. Bimbo Nacionales; Rimar Metuda vs. Gabby Simpo; John Mark Apolinario vs. Jestoni Makiputin; Mark Antonio vs. Michael Padayag; Dave Apolinario vs. Rudy Salaton; Jerven Mama vs. Jerry Tabamo; Michael Garcedo vs. Jason Tresmonte; and, Jaeger Bereno vs. Jessie Boyles.
