Ex-head of PH Jesuits passes away

MANILA -- The former head of the Philippine Jesuits, Fr. Romeo Intengan, died on Tuesday. He was 74.

In a statement, the Office of the Provincial of the Philippine Province, Society of Jesus said Fr. Intengan succumbed to cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning.

The wake will start on Tuesday evening at the Oratory of St. Ignatius of Loyola House of Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City where daily wake masses will be held at 8 p.m.

The funeral mass is set on Saturday, 8 p.m. at the same venue. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Novitiate Jesuit Cemetery after the funeral mass but is subject to change pending the arrival of Intengan's family from the US.

All members of the organization have been asked to offer one mass while all members of Intengan’s local community have been requested to offer two masses for him.

Intengan entered the Society on July 25, 1970 and was ordained a priest on March 27, 1977. He served as Philippine Provincial from 1998 to 2004. (Ferdinand G. Patinio/PNA)
