CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City -- Some 1,042 cops have been assigned to the Police Regional Office (PRO 4-A)-Calabarzon contingent that will augment security and assistance to the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Metro Manila on Nov. 13 to 15.

Of the 1,042 Calabarzon police deployed for the ASEAN Summit, some 1,030 are from the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) while the remaining 12 personnel are from the Regional Health Service 4-A.

“We have been providing augmentation to our government forces in activities such as this ASEAN Summit and I am very confident that our deployed personnel shall exercise all their duties and responsibilities with the greatest respect of human life and dignity,” said PRO4A-Calabarzon Regional Director, Chief Superintendent Ma. O R Aplasca, on Thursday.

Aplasca said the CDM contingent would provide security in cases of violent demonstrations and protests.

The Calabarzon police contingent was fully briefed during their send-off on their vital operations on security matters and police assistance to the Summit delegates from the 10 ASEAN-member countries and dialogue partners.

Superintendent Chitadel Carandang Gaoiran, chief of the PRO 4-A Public Information Office, said the entire Philippine National Police (PNP) is placed under full alert status during the event. (PNA)
